What to do in JB_part 5_Cooking Leisure

Like to cook for myself when I am staying at Gelang Patah (JB) apartment.

==============================

Hainanese Chicken Rice~

Bought this mix paste and started to cook for myself during couple of weekends ago. Not bad, just abit salty (will try other brand next time..)

Hey hey, my side dishes including ~ long beans fried with coulliflower &
.
.
.
.
.
.

Thick sweet paste chicken wings. Awesome look & taste! Hahaha...

It took me 30-45mins for one rice + 2 dishes. My lunch is settled and so did my dinner...

==============================

I prefer to have one rice, one vege and one meat for my main meal because....Am not good at frying rice. Always too sticky.... >.

Been trying to fry less-sticky rice but failed...

My fried rice ingredients ~ consists of green beans, carrot, sliced mushrooms, lap cheong, vegetarian ham plus some garlics & onions and some salt, pepper & soy source for own taste.

Heat up the wok and throw all the ingredients in...

Done! Add on egg according to my preference.
Aiks.....the ingredients are way too much and have covered the white rice

==============================
Others:

Mushroom Chicken...Let the chicken marinated over night...

Start to fry vege while cooking the chicken...

After half an hour, switch off the fire (cover the chicken + vege) and off to bath before eat (while waiting white rice to be ready). The "lap chiong" was cooked by using rice cooker to steam it.

Is alot easier when we have the right tools and variety of ingredients to cook for ourself.

A moment like this_part 10

Nephew Ren Chuan is nearly 20 months old. I like to see him wearing sleeveless shirt. Super playful nowadays.

He has been delaying his afternoon nap time recently. Sometimes, he will only take nap at around 3+pm although he woke up at 8+ in the morning.

Another group photos of him during our visit to Port Dickson last month.

Baby Ren Chuan likes to sit quietly in the car and watching the world through car window. He can be very impatient when the car stopped for red traffic. How? He will make noise & whoever hugging him must explain to him what is going on, haha...

Last group of photos... Dunno where he learn the trick from..haha...

Deevali Gathering 2009

Went to Kumar's house on last Sunday. Had a short gathering as usual.

Yup, same time same place ~ Kumar's house. In the photo: Kui Yee & Kumar, both are my pals > 15 years old friendship.

Delicious Indian food prepared by Kumar's mother.

There she is :)

Is photo-shooting session, Kumar is instructing everyone in the house to get ready. ^.^

Pei Teng and her husband. Pei Teng is also one of my super old pal..

Kumar's mum and also most of Kumar's family members have changed to traditional clothes.

The rest of Kumar's frens are waiting to join in...

Little indian princess (Kumar's nieces), they are 3-4 year old babies... so cute and chubby... Oh ya, little nephew is so so so funny, when the uncle asked him why he is getting thinner, his answer: becoz mummy is pregnant, hahahaha....

Arranging seats for photo shooting...

Finally!

Posing for old pal's photo shooting before I head for another dinner :P

I like the shoes that Oscar is wearing, so soft + cute! Little Oscar was attracted by the kids show @ Aeon Bukit Indah.

Oh ya... you can click here for more of nice baby stuff...

My first Frittata!

Frittata in the house...wee....

Cooked this on last Thursday night. My steps are as below:
.
.
.

First, onions and garlic nicely chopped and diced...Stir fried them and bring out the taste...

Added brocolli and organic tomato...Oh ya, do not over fried them, they should be in half-cooked.

Heehee, added vegetarian ham. Quickly took out and steamed the vegetarian ham because they were not de-frozed...(found out the ingredients are way to0 little lor...haha, last minute decision and the fastest way to defroze is to steam it!).

Place the ingredients into this bread-kinda bakery pot (dunno how to call this >.<..) when they are half cooked.
Like the combination of the color, a lot.... ^.^

Last step is to place the cheese on top... I did not buy any mozarella cheese or cheddar cheese on purpose (although it should be lar...), just a simple kraft single cheese...2 slices will do!

Upper view of my first Frittata before it went into oven! I was so so so excited (for a new cooker like me lar...)

Gone thru some articles that most ovens need to be preheated first before we bake anything, but i forgot to turn on, ok lor, need to wait...

After 10 mins of preheat, here we go! My Frittata is ready to be baked...
220 degree at around 13mins.

Oh ya, this oven is given by elder bro, he seldom uses it, so, the oven is mine now! Love the pink color heater coil light (normal one is in orange color...)

Ta da....The finely cooked view of my first Frittata!

The inside view of it. Went for shower first, before dine in... I should say ~ taste is above average due to the taste of thick cheese and vegetarian ham. The tomatoes were juicy and not sour ... Like it!

The only thing is the brocollis are over cooked and turned yellowished after baked. Teeheehee...

Frittata is Italian originated food. It comes with the idea that the Italian mothers do not want to throw away the leftover food, so what to do? They change the leftover food to a nicely cooked food on the next day by baking them with cheese! Brilliant idea or not?
Post note: Found out that I missed out one thing for my Frittata. It should be added with egg! >.<''' And thus it should be baked with 220 degree in around 15-20 mins.....*shy*.... no wonder i felt abit weird in the first place, kakaka...

What to do in JB_part 4_Floating bookstore + Floating restaurant

Phew..these 2 weeks were really busy at work...
New task from boss where we could not say NO...*sweat* plus many other own jobscope to handle...

Here comes ~ What to do in JB_part 4

Went to a floating book store...Kumar brought me there...

Yeeha... has been postponing this trip twice...phoo... this ship is the world oldest one, she is 96 years old (yup, older than Titanic)...

Excited me at the side of rescue boat... (walao..my hand so short and chubby...>.<''' but hey this is not the main topic hor...hahaha...)

Ta da...legendary floating book fair... actually there is another portion of the book fair which solely selling Christianity books/CDs, however, that is small portion compared to this one.

Cook books are one of my recent favourites now, heehee...The books there are unique and they are not expensive as I thought too...Cool...this is what the main purpose of MV Doulos - Bringing knowledge, help and hope.

This ship has been well maintained which she has been also rebuilt for twice (else she is unable to sail due to some marine rules...). Never thought that this ship is quite big, she used to be passenger cruise.

Doulos is recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest active ocean-going passenger ship.

Doulos has visited more than 100 countries in including Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and many island nations.

See the word GBA? Doulos was purchased in 1977 by GBA Ships e.V. (previously known as Good Books for All), a private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in Germany.

OMG... i forgot his name *shy*, one of the crews. He is from Germany and he is 31years old too. For those who like to volunteered themselves to serve in this ship, they need to find their own sponsor, once onboard, they need to stay with the ship for 2 years and yes, zero salary. He is enjoying his work here with other crew members out of 50 different nations.

Our dinner at the KFC stall...We got 5 zinger burgers + 4 colonel burgers + 4 pcs of original chicken for only RM20!!! Yippieeee....Why? Because
the stall closed at 10pm, if they dun sell for cheaper rate, they must throw them away...

Good bye Doulos (it will be decommissioned this year). Well, the spread of knowledge will not stop here, the rest of the crew will continue to stop at world wide ports by sailing with a new ship called Logos!

Here comes the floating restaurant ~

Ya, is time to explore Gelang Patah, the area where I am staying now.

Went 3 weeks ago. This is the entrance.

The walkway before we reached the restaurant.

The side views ~

The restaurant ~ unfortunately, it is about to buka puasa at that time, so, we need to wait until all are served - the muslims, before they can serve us...hmmm... no choice, we decided to not to wait...

Some views before we left...

Saw this before we left...OMG...floating karaok...interesting but no thanks, will not sing k here... :P

Off we go for dinner... Click here for more food and review.

This is a new restaurant with air conditioned in Gelang Patah.

Hmm...heard from colleague about this restaurant...so we decided to have our dinner here..This shop is located opposite Gelang Patah EON Bank (near old Chua Kee if you know this area)...

Dun be shocked, other than bird nest, it sells other food too.

Nice decor... Comfortable for dining...

My dessert... not so sweet, was too full to enjoy it..:P...the taste is normal, no surprise...btw, Karen took this during our lunch today.

Other specialties...porridge and set lunch...

Our dinner... Overally, the food is considered quite ok, the vege is oily but is delicious. Worth a 3rd time dine in....~ in future :)
